A poll conducted by Newspoll on behalf of
Dying with Dignity NSW
reports that 85 per cent of Australians are in favour,
up from 80 per cent in a 2007 poll. Ten per cent were
against it, and five per cent were unsure. Support
varied from 82 per cent in Queensland to 88 per cent in
Western Australia.
Dr Robert Marr, spokesperson for Dying with Dignity NSW,
said: "With such massive support across the country, the
results of this poll send a message to the country's
lawmakers that the time has come for a full debate on
this issue."
