Royal Society of Canada appoints international panel on "End-of-Life Decision Making"

The Royal Society of Canada has appointed an international panel on "End-of-Life Decision Making". The panel will investigate issues such as voluntary euthanasia and assisted suicide, and prepare a public report which is due in the spring of 2011. Thirteen possible preliminary questions are set out in the chair's Ethx Blog link below.

The chair of the panel is Udo Schuklenk, a professor of philosophy at Queen's University and current holder of the Ontario Research Chair in Bioethics. "This is one the most serious social and ethical issues facing all advanced countries today," says Dr. Schuklenk.
