A poll commissioned by LifeCanada and the Euthanasia
Prevention Coalition found that 61% of Canadians were in
favour of euthanasia, and many were also worried about
misuse.
The poll was carried out by Environics Research, whose
spokesperson, Derek Leebosh, defended giving respondents
the following definition of euthanasia: "the use of
lethal means, such as a drug injection, overdose or
poisoning to take the life of someone who is sick,
depressed, elderly or disabled." Leebosh said: "What
the poll shows is that there is a definite majority of
people when they hear 'euthanasia' say yes, even when
it's described in a way that pulls no punches."

"An Environics group poll of 1014 Canadians done
between October 6 - 13 found that while 61%
supported the legalization of euthanasia, 69% of
the respondents stated that the Canadian
government should make palliative/ hospice care a
greater priority as compared to 18% who thought
that the legalization of euthanasia was a greater
priority. The Environics poll was commissioned by
several groups that included the Euthanasia
