Dr Philip Nitschke will revisit the Tweed Heads Civic
and Cultural Centre tomorrow to conduct a Voluntary
Euthanasia workshop for Exit International. First,
there will be a public meeting on the topic "Why senior
Australians should develop a practical end of life
plan." Then, in a workshop, "We'll be able to go
into the practical aspects, what are the drugs, what are
the best drugs and most reliable drugs," he said. "There
are plenty of drugs that will end your life but you
don't want to mess around with things that might not
work. "They want to know what will work, so we will go
into that in some detail.
"And more importantly, how do you go about acquiring
these drugs, because many of them are drugs that if you
were to import them into this country you'd be breaking
the law. "There's some you can get from a doctor but
not many and you would have to go and tell lies to
doctors and such."
Dr Nitschke said he will also be speaking about other
suicide strategies, from helium inhalation to the newly
developed Peaceful Pill.
[In news below, the Australian government says it is
going ahead with censorship of the Internet. Last May,
the web site of Nitschke's Peaceful Pill Handbook was
discovered to be on a leaked blacklist.]

Joining China and Iran, Australia to Filter Internet
[Fox News]

Australia is forging ahead with plans to
filter Internet content in a bid to stop its
citizens accessing obscene and crime-linked Web
sites. Under the Chinese-style system, Internet
service providers (ISPs) in the country would be
legally obliged to filter out banned material.
Australia: Big Brother laws to be brought in for web
[The Age]

THE Federal Government will block selected
online sites after trials found filtering was
accurate and would not slow down the internet.
But critics, including the online users' lobby
group Electronic Frontiers Australia and the
Greens communications spokesman Scott Ludlam, said
the trial results were not surprising and the
policy was still flawed. Communications Minister
Stephen Conroy said yesterday he would introduce
legislation just before next year's election to
make internet service providers block a blacklist
of "refused classification" websites.
Australian pensioner considers euthanasia
[Tweed Daily News]

From last June 25 EuthaNEWSia: Terri
Bradley says that when the pain and indignity of
her chronic illnesses become too much, she will
end her life. "It is our life, our choice … no
one should be able to say you can't go when you
want, it is not right." She spoke with a Tweed
Daily News reporter at a seminar run by Dr. Philip
Nitschke. "However, as Dr Nitschke told about 100,
mostly elderly, people at the Tweed Heads Civic
Centre, Ms Bradley would have to die alone and in
private, for if her friends or family were part of
any voluntary euthanasia in New South Wales, they
would risk 20 years in jail."
