Canadian novel includes right-to-die

Description:

Canadian writer Susan Bracken's novel, A Courageous Battle, explores universal themes —  overcoming adversity, finding and losing love, overcoming grief and fear — through the life and death of Lacey Wilson. Lacey overcomes neglect and abuse in her young life to achieve riches and fame and she finds true love.

Years later, when cancer strikes, she asks her beloved daughter, Jana, to help her achieve a peaceful and safe death. Jana wants to help but the situation is complicated by the fact that she has fallen in love with her mother's oncologist, and the doctor does not approve.

An appendix to the novel provides information on legal rights (such as jurors' right to nullify, as they did with Dr. Henry Morgentaler), advance directives regarding medical treatment, organizations that promote aid in dying, and scholarly works on "the final freedom".

A Courageous Battle is available at www.amazon.ca and www.amazon.com. Reviews and comments are available at www.susanbracken.ca, as well as a free download of the book as a PDF. The ISBN is 978-0-9864879-1-0.
