Atlanta Magazine tells the story behind the assisted
suicide charges brought against members of the
Final Exit Network
(FEN). On June 19, 2008, John Celmer ended his life
with helium inhalation in the presence of two FEN Exit
Guides. Celmer had undergone a disfiguring series of
surgeries for oral cancer.
Atlanta Magazine interviews Sue Celmer, John's spouse;
Ted Goodwin, 65, one of the Exit Guides and also FEN's
president at the time; and Claire Blehr, 77, the other
Exit Guide. FEN's procedures are explained, and the
sequence of events prior to Celmer's death are
described.

Judge: State of Georgia must return funds to Final Exit Network
[EuthaNEWSia, Oct. 16, 2009]

Superior Court Judge Jeffrey S. Bagley ordered the State of
Georgia to return $330,000 to the Final Exit Network (FEN). The
money was seized in February when four FEN members were charged
by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation with assisting the
suicide of John Celmer, of Cummings, Georgia. The money was
seized under the RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt
Organizations) Act, but the state did not file supporting
materials.
