Subscribing to the EuthaNEWSia mailing list

In brief:

To SUBSCRIBE send a message to:

euthanewsia-subscribe@euthanewsia.ca
SUBJECT and TEXT may be left blank

To UNSUBSCRIBE send a message to:

euthanewsia-unsubscribe@euthanewsia.ca
SUBJECT and TEXT may be left blank

The explanation

The EuthaNEWSia mailing list server will register you for a free subscription if you simply send a message to the special address above. You can leave the message content and the subject completely blank: the server is only interested in your "From:" address.

  • To make sure that no one else sent the subscription request, the server will email a request for confirmation back to you.

  • When you have responded to the confirmation request, the server sends your address to the editor for inclusion in the mailing list.

  • When the editor adds your address to the list, the server sends you a welcome message.

The process for cancelling a subscription works similarly.

Background

A web site like EuthaNEWSia stores a RSS "feed" file which is updated whenever the Advisories are sent out.

Your "feed reader" program checks the site periodically and downloads the feed file whenever it has something new. In the case of EuthaNEWSia, the feed contains the headline, some of the Advisory, and a link to the full Advisory.

You receive RSS feeds though a feed reader. There are several free online rss readers such as Google Reader. As well, many web browsers such as Firefox and Opera handle feeds automatically.
